Race Categories
TAMMTB have implemented a grading system unique to our park & specific to the twilight race series. We design race loops and duration relevant to the skill and fitness level for each grade.
Elite:
Elite grade is the most fit and most skilled riders grade. These racers are subject to the longest race duration, which usually include the most elevation (hill climbing) and are exposed to the trickier trails, including sections of black trails on occasion.
A Grade:
A grade is the second grade to Elite, still exposed to the full variety of trail types available at Tamworth Mountain Bike Park as is the Elite grade (including black trails), but at a pace a little shy of furiously fast Elite grade riders.
Typically, this grade is for those who like the challenge of the most technical features but are not quite up to traversing the terrain at elite race pace.
B Grade:
This super popular category is made up of a competitive field of race focused riders who like to be challenged with the wide range of flowy green and blue trails.
Central mountain and North Hill climbs occasion the B grade race category, along with the fast flow of the parks lower green trails.
C Grade:
C Grade can be considered the entry level to those new to race paced mountain biking.
The race loops are kept to the wider, smoother trails of Tamworth Mountain Bike park generally represented by the green trails.
Race pace is still in focus, but without the technical trail features and relentless climbing to the tops of the park.
Recreation:
This is exactly as it sounds, with riders participating in the same loop as set for the C grade riders, at a speed comfortable according to the riders own fitness and skill levels.
Dirtmasters:
Dirtmaster are the youth categories, targeting riders aged under 13 years.
There are 2 grades within Dirtmasters, Dirty A and Dirty B. Both are aimed at the under 13 aged riders with the difference being the level of experience, pace, fitness and skill on the bikes, with A grade targeting those most fearsome on 2 wheels, and B grade for those still finding their confidence.
Gravity Groms:
Gravity Groms are our youngest riders on their first pedals and balance bikes. Improving balance, making friends, connecting parents, and building a love for their bikes implementing basic skills on easy trails.
Race Format
The race co-ordinator will select the route/loop each week.
We use a shortened XCO format to conduct the race.
